I was eating a yummy Kashi Cherry Dark Chocolate granola bar this morning and was tasting honey. I wanted to see if it was actually in the ingredient list…it was. In the process I noticed “evaporated salt” as another ingredient. My first thought was, “If it’s evaporated, how does it exist?” (not thinking about evaporated milk, etc.) So off to google/wikipedia I go.
Turns out my second thought was correct…it’s salt evaporated from salt water. Each evaporating pond’s color is made by the organisms that can live in the salinity of that pond - red, orange, green (and it appears from the picture, yellow).

Wow! Sometimes I wish I got more excited over relatively little things! Guess I better finally create a photo account somewhere and get the Guster pics up. Flickr? Any other suggestions?

As part of their “Pasty Tapes” series, Guster is releasing various old bootleg recordings. This one is of the 4/19/2000 Portsmouth, NH show. MP3 and FLAC versions are available for free.

One of my favorites! Find it on tap and make things a little more interesting by giving a wink ‘n smile when ordering the Little Sumpin’ Extra!Trying “Little Sumpin’ Extra! Ale” by Lagunitas Brewing Co. for 1st time. Delicious, thick, rich. #fb
